As most of you already know.. Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who quit the party on Monday had asked other members to do the same if they have no confidence in Abdullah’s leadership. As of 21st May 2008 @ 4.11pm , a quick check on the star website , here's what i got..
"A total of 156 members from the Sri Tanjung branch in the Pokok Sena Umno division quit the party Tuesday night.Sri Tanjung branch chairman Baharuddin Mahmood, who led the group, said they would only rejoin Umno after party president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi steps down."
"Some 300-odd members of Umno Jalan Badlishah branch in Merbok were among the first to quit en masse followed by about 2,000 members in Gombak. It is learnt about 2,000 more from five branches in Pokok Sena namely Langgar, Limbong, Tasak, Taman Teratai and Kampung Bersatu would be submitting their resignation letters in stages within the next few days."
"Former Kedah Umno treasurer Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir and former Kota Setar MP Dr Abdul Hadi Derani are among Umno members who have quit the party."
- All they wanted to have a change in leadership.. that's all.. don't you guys think that our current PM should do something about all these drama soon... it shakes my confidence in the current government.. i'm guessing that the whole world will have a different view of Malaysia now.. it's so different from Tun Dr Mahathir's time... but then again.. as my colleague said , yeah we were ok during Tun's time.. but we were so content with the stability that were blinded by ignorance. We don't know what was happening behind the scenes.. at least now we have the oppositions to create the balance in power... so next few months should be quite interesting..
Here's what other people have to say on Tun's resignation...
Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that - "The resignation of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed indicates a worsening of the crisis in Umno and Barisan Nasional"
Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said that Tun's action is disloyal to UMNO.
Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Umno had the strength and experience to cope with the repercussions of former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s sudden resignation from Umno. - ahahhaha... hmmm.. yeah right....
